Top Spot Achieved: Ange Postecoglou's Spurs Extend Winning Streak in Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur's flawless season persists, clinching a 1-0 win at Luton Town, maintaining their league lead. Here are some things you should know about the game.

Tottenham Hotspur have continued their winning streak, getting three points away at Luton Town (1-0).
Spurs are currently first in the league, with the team currently having no losses this season.
The game was important for Spurs because the win moved the team to the first position in The Premier League. Here are some of my thoughts about the match.
Game Overview
Spurs nearly scored in about the first minute of the match, when Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski, crossed the ball into the box to Richarlison who nearly scored.
Spurs continued to put on the pressure. James Maddison played a beautiful pass in around the 3rd minute of the match to Richarlison who nearly scored again. During the 7th minute of the match right-back Pedro Porro nearly gave Spurs the lead too.
Spurs were putting on the pressure, creating three close chances in under 10 minutes. However, despite the pressure Luton’s backline was strong, with the team’s Belgian goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, managing to keep the score (0-0).

Red Card
The game would change around 48 minute of the match when Spurs player Yves Bissouma hit the ground. Bissouma who had been previously booked for a foul, got a second yellow card for the simulation which would see him sent off. The foul was his fourth booking for the 2023-24 season. Spurs brought on Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to help the team in the middle of the park.
Luton attack
Luton pounced on Spurs during around the 46 minute of the game. Luton player Chiedozie Ogbene challenged Spurs left-back Destiny Udogie, getting a cross into Spurs’ goal which nearly saw Luton player Elijah Adebayo drawing the game (1-1). However, his connection to the ball wasn’t clean and went out for a goal kick.
Luton’s momentum changed in Spurs’ favour in around the 51 minute of the match. A quick corner taken by Kulusevski and an assist by Maddison to Spurs centre-back Micky Van de Ven would see Spurs have a (1-0) lead. The goal was the Dutch player’s first for Spurs.
Conclusion
Spurs played well during the match. Spurs had more possession compared to Luton (66.9% vs 33.1%) and about doubled the number of passes compared to Luton (553 vs 252). Spurs also had four shots on target compared to Luton’s two.
The team struggled to deal with Luton’s low block, having only four shots on target during the match. Despite Spurs having one man down during the match, Luton’s players were not ruthless in scoring chances.
Spurs also played well without Bissouma on the pitch. He plays an important role in the midfield helping the play move from the defence to attack. His absence creates issues for Spurs whose next game is against Fulham, the only team that has beaten Spurs this season.
