Ineos must rebuild United's first team
This is my view on United's underperformance over this season.
Amorim’s Challenges
Manchester United fans must support Ruben Amorim during this season.
Amorim, who has replaced Erik ten Hag as the first team’s manager, has a huge task to complete.
He has arrived at a club that hasn’t invested in its infrastructure, scouted talent poorly, and not created a structure above the manager.
The leadership's inability to address systemic issues makes recent results unsurprising.
United’s 3-0 loss to Bournemouth wasn’t Amorim’s fault, nor was it surprising given the team’s recent struggles. We have seen United lose to Liverpool 7-0, get beaten heavily by Manchester City, and lose numerous games in European competitions.
United’s Recent Struggles
Amorim has taken over an underperforming team which needs to be rebuilt.
United often overpays for players from foreign leagues without adequate scouting to assess their suitability for the Premier League.
Jadon Sancho and Angel Di Maria are just a few names who have flopped for United.
Change must happen!
The Transfer Window Dilemma
The club needs to sell players before buying new ones.
United’s lack of a sporting director will hurt them during the upcoming transfer window. They need a central-attacking midfielder, a left-wingback, and a central defensive midfielder.
Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Christian Eriksen are some players who should be sold. The club’s new owners, Ineos, must be ruthless in the transfer window. Trying to get a tune out of this team will end in disappointment. A rebuild is needed.
Former United manager Ralf Rangnick has already talked about this issue.
"Now it's only about how you can solve them. Not minor cosmetic things. This is an open-heart operation. If everyone realises this has to happen and works together, it doesn't need to take years,” Rangnick said.
I believe this view is right. Multiple players from that period are still at the club. Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Victor Lindelöf are a few names from that time.
United must be smart during the transfer window, selling underperforming players and finding good deals. If Ineos backs Amorim in this transfer window, I believe this season could be salvaged. If not, it’s going to be a hard season.
